SEMP’s latest event Anand Mela 2016 was a grand success. It was held on Sunday 20th March 2016 at the Chandlers Ford Methodist Church.
It was attended by 300+ people. There was a large variety of food on sale and everyone enjoyed the event thoroughly. The organising team and the stall holders enjoyed it as much as the people who attended it.
The locals got a taste of authentic Maharashtrian food which included the likes of the ever popular Vada Pav, Misal Pav, Ragda Pattice and Pani Puri/Dahi Puri. There was Mutton Bhakri and Malvani Chicken with rice to fill the tummy. To finish off, there were the traditional sweets such as Gul Poli, Shrikhand and Modak or you could have Mango Mastani to round off things.
There was also a live cooking demonstration which showcased a couple of the recipes on offer.
There was a variety of games and activities ranging from innovative ones like the human fruit machine and “Shree Tashi Sau” to informative ones like the Race to the fort in which children got to know about various forts in Maharashtra. There was also a stall where children could make Marathi themed greeting cards. There were also the ever popular tail-the-donkey and throw-the-ball-in-the-bucket stalls to keep the kids entertained.
The event photos below will give you a feel of the event and would probably prompt you to attend the next Anand Mela.
