This was the third year of the Ganpati Festival celebrations by SEMP, it was called ‘Ekdant’ and as with the previous years, it was a huge success. The chief guest of the event was Dr. Vasudev Godbole, retired engineer and historian. The evening began with children performing in Marathi. Children sang songs, told stories – but strictly in Marathi and did a splendid job.
A Certificate was awarded to every performing child.
This was followed by a speech by the chief guest where he gave an enlightening insight into Marathi and Indian history.
It was time for Ganpati Bappa’s Aarti after that and prasad after that.
There was a delicious dinner with Maharashtrian dishes such as Pooran Poli, Matkichi Usal and Masale Bhaat .
After the dinner, the musical programme ‘Gani Manamanatli’ was presented by professional singers and musicians. All the songs and the entire presentation of the programme was in Marathi. The programme was a roaring success and left many feeling exhilarated and nostalgic. The Ganpati Festival programme was one of the most beautiful evenings of the year for many.
The event photos below will give you a feel of the event and would probably prompt you to attend the next Ganpati Event.
